Your band at MetalUnites
Here's how you can take part:
First things first.
If your band advocates and supports racism or fascism, then: FUCK OFF!
We will immediately delete any band that deceives us in this regard, but still participates and we then “find out something”. Further participation excluded forever. We are not left-wing nutcases, we only have members and partners all over the world, we are an international community and we do not tolerate racism and fascism.
To be able to present you at MetalUnites,
there are basically three possibilities.
1. with non-exclusive content
What is “non-exclusive content”?
As the name suggests: everything that MetalUnites does not use exclusively.
These can be videos that you already use on YouTube, Vimeo or other platforms.
It doesn't matter whether they are live videos, rehearsal room recordings or whatever.
But it should be moving images: live, lyrics or clips ...
not just a picture accompanied by sound.
Is there a guaranteed release on MetalUnites?
No, there can't be any.
It all depends on whether the quality or content of the videos is right and whether we can present them to you with a clear conscience.
We don't want to harm ourselves or you with poor quality.
What was it like with Instagram?
You can currently send us your download links of videos via
WeTransfer,
Dropbox or
Google Drive
We need to download and upload them, a link to youtube is not purposeful!
We will download your videos and place them on our instagram channel.

How do you send information about MetalUnites?
To send us your videos, simply send an email to bands@metalunites.de with a name, link and short description of the style as well as desired keywords.

2. with exclusive content
What is “exclusive content”?
As the name suggests: everything that MetalUnites uses exclusively .
Content such as live videos, rehearsal room recordings, interviews, official clips etc. - which you have NOT used on other platforms, websites etc. so far.
You agree that MetalUnites may use your content exclusively for at least 12 months.
The rights to recordings etc. are explained in the following section.
Who produces the “exclusive content”?
There are also two options here.
- YOU SEND US THE VIDEOS:
As we cannot be on the road worldwide at the same time, you can send us your exclusive video material (via WeTransfer, Dropbox, google Drive etc.) that YOU have recorded.
You then agree that this material will be available exclusively from us for 12 months from the date of first publication by us.You can only use it for your “own purposes” after the period of use agreed with us.
Videos should only be sent in after prior consultation with us.
Even then: a submission does not automatically mean a guaranteed publication with us.
We check whether the quality is right and agree a release date with you, the 12 months only count from the day of publication.If you are interested in being featured and increasing the attention and reach for your band or label with a relevant target audience, then you could send us the links to download pages with all the information and descriptions you would like to have published. Especially important is your classification into a music style under which people should be able to find you categorized). We also need written permission from you to use the videos etc. exclusively for our paying members for at least 12 months. This means that we alone own the rights for 12 months. We will not publish anything that has not been previously agreed in writing with the copyright holders!
Use of course only within the MetalUnites community - or after consultation with the artists!Maybe you're asking yourself: “Why should we do this and not use youtube? Free for all?”
We have already been asked this question by a fairly unknown band.
We then took a look at their access figures on youtube: the best video reached 1,200 views, on average the videos had 600 views. And the band hasn't just been available there for a year.- At MetalUnites you get money for EXCLUSIVE videos. Not thousands of Euros, but even if only 10 users watch your video, you get something for it. Not so much on youtube. There only when you have accumulated 70 euros - and that is currently about 70,000 views.
- At MetalUnites nobody has to search for METAL between mainstream combos, product advertising or other things.
Who searches youtube for an unknown band? At MU, all bands of a genre are summarized directly and the fan sees everything immediately.- With us, every band can be found in the channel of a style that appeals to their particular fan group.
There is no greater and qualitatively better reach in the direct interest group.- Each band has its own page where all videos are listed.
In addition, the introduction pages also contain links to all your online channels that you name to us.- We integrate your own advertising (also possible within the video on external pages) directly, e.g. link to your own store page or the store of your label.
- WE PRODUCE VIDEOS:
By prior arrangement, we independently record exclusive concerts by bands that, similar to Netflix/Amazon Prime, are only available exclusively to our members.
Order:
1. the MU and the band agree that filming is permitted.
2. MU films and sends the band a first listening impression as an audio file.
3. if the band agrees with the performance, the video is edited.
If the band does not want one, two or more songs to be included due to playing errors etc., MU will remove them from the edit.
4. the finished video is reviewed by the band and approved if necessary.
5. MU determines if and when the video will be released. MU will inform the band about the possible release date. From this date, the 12-month minimum term and the period for which the calculation of royalties applies shall apply.
Copyright for videos produced by us
If we film your band, then we need written permission to do so on the one hand, and written permission from you on the other that we may exclusively use the videos etc. we film for our paying members for at least 12 months. The rights to these videos (and only to these videos!) are therefore with us, because we have the financial and time expenditure. You as a band or label benefit from the fact that metal fans see your videos, are interested in you and can order albums, merchandise etc. directly via the links to your sales channels.
Should you object to exclusive use one day, the material still belongs to us.
We just take it off the platform and archive it.
Please note: if we receive permissions from labels, we assume that they have clarified the rights issue with their artist.
As our platform is a “membership” platform for the most exclusive content possible (Membership), we will deactivate the sharing option there. Movies and series from Netflix cannot be shared on facebook either.
Is exclusive material from MetalUnites tempered?
Yes, we even “reward” you fourfold.
But first things first: regardless of whether a “big” band or a pure underground band - everyone gets the same, regardless of whether a video has been viewed 2 million times or only 500 times!
Here are our “rewards”.
You will only receive these if we use exclusive material from you.
If these are no longer exclusive (due to an objection), you will receive the remuneration within the agreed exclusivity period.
Violations of our agreements will have consequences. The band will be kicked out immediately and will not be able to rejoin. In addition, the right to remuneration of any kind will be forfeited. Violations are not only the use of the exclusive material on other channels or by third parties - but also if you belong to the racist or fascist spectrum and we become aware of it.
1. Each band, whose videos we use exclusively for at least 12 months (regardless of whether the material was produced by us or the band), receives a CPH (hundred contact price/CPH) as long as we provide videos from you. This means: regardless of how often a video is viewed, the band receives a fee for the number of members who could theoretically see the video. Per 100 MetalUnites members (worldwide) each band receives money per year. The cut-off date is always December 31st of each year. The amount depends on the videos we receive from you, because a clip lasts maybe 3 minutes, but a live show lasts 90+ minutes.
- - We have videos from you with a total length of up to 15 minutes (e.g. 5 videos with a length of 3 minutes each), then you will receive 0.05 Euro per 100 members*.
- - We have videos from you with a total length of up to 45 minutes (e.g. 10 videos with a length of 3 minutes each), then you will receive 0.15 Euro per 100 members*.
- - We have videos from you with a total length of up to 45 - 90 minutes (e.g. 1 video with 60 minutes and 10 videos with 3 minutes each), then you will receive 0.25 Euro per 100 members*.
- - We have videos of you with a total length of over 90 minutes (e.g. 2 videos of 50 minutes each), then you will receive 0.35 euros per 100 members*.
*Exampel: 10,000 users are registered, then every band whose video material totals over 90 minutes - and which we offer exclusively - receives 35 euros per year. (10,000/100 (CPH) =100 -> 100 x 0.35 euros = 35 euros.
EVERY YEAR where we host the videos, regardless of the streaming number, but depending on the number of paying members.
In comparison: In order to receive a ONE-TIME PAYMENT of 40 euros on youtube, you would have to achieve almost 40,000 (!) views. Ask yourself: how realistic is that? And: youtube only pays out from 70 euros.
Note: Bands that use the corresponding content on other channels and platforms despite the exclusivity agreement will be immediately and permanently (!) excluded from MetalUnites. If you use the videos sooner and violate our agreement, we will delete your band immediately and a new participation will never be possible again.
2. Your videos may receive links to a channel that earns you money: your online store or that of your label. Of course, all links to online channels such as your website, facebook etc. are also available there. You just have to let us know.
3. We have partners on board, who grant special conditions to “our” exclusive bands. These can also be discounts on merchandise or sound carrier productions, discounts in the music business, etc.
4. We produce merchandise with “our” exclusive bands. However, this is not a claim, but WE decide which bands are eligible.
We will then contact the bands and clarify everything else.
There are no costs for the bands, motifs for shirts etc. are agreed and the band receives 30% of the product produced free of charge for its own sale.
No algorithms and clicks
We don't pay bands according to algorithms or clicks, but according to the artistic space they occupy in our curated program.

Fairness for bands
Curated Catalog Share Model (CCSM)
We have developed this model for less well-known bands.
Bands receive revenue based on their share of the curated program and the number of paying members who might watch the videos, not on pure streaming numbers.
Why this is fair:
- - All content is deliberately released by MU - we bear the risk, not the band.
- - Even lesser-known bands get real visibility without getting lost in the sea of streams.
No algorithm, no click farms, no reach battles!
Can we use exclusive material ourselves?
YOU PRODUCE THE VIDEOS:
If you produce videos and transfer the usage rights to us for 12 months, then it will not be possible for you as long as we offer the videos to our paying members.
However, since we do not guarantee that we will actually show your videos for 12 months, you can of course use your videos yourself from the moment we remove them from the program.
We will inform you if we remove videos from the program.
You will then only be paid for the time, i.e. if we do not use your video for 12 months, you will receive payment for the number of months of use.
WE PRODUCE THE VIDEOS:
You have to understand that the production of the videos costs money.
We pay for these videos to show them to our users EXCLUSIVELY .
But:
If we film at least 8 of your songs (e.g., at a live concert) and use them exclusively, we will, after consultation with you, select ONE SONG, which you can then use on your online platforms. We will host this song separately, and you will receive a special link from us for use. Of course, this song will contain our trailers and logos, but you can use the video anywhere, as long as it remains unchanged.
Other actions for bands
In the future, we want to carry out various campaigns with bands whose exclusive material we use.
They could be special merchandise items.
Here is an example of the band Anasarca:
We produce shirts from you, exclusively for MU members - and you receive a 30% share of the shirts for your own sale.
There could be special discounts for you with merchandise manufacturers, music stores, studios, cover designers etc. - all negotiated by us for you.
We have a few more ideas - but we'll get to them gradually.
3. MU as a seller of your products
What can we sell?
- - Basically, you can offer everything you have physically for sale: LPs, CDs, merchandise.
- - You send us your material and we will be happy to sell it to our members in our store for a “commission”.
- - At best, they are more exclusive products such as signed recordings etc.
Does it cost us anything?
The costs for you are quickly explained: postage.
You send us the products at your own expense.
In the event of termination of the cooperation, we will return the remaining/leftover products to you at your expense.
If you like, the third “cost item” is the commission that we retain for the sale.
We sell the first two of ten products on our account.
From then on, you get everything.
How would that work?
1. you send us a package with your articles. Always in quantities of 10, i.e. 10 or 20 or 30 (or
more) pieces. We sell your items via the store and also send them to the buyers.
2. you will receive the money for 8 of the sent products after the sale, at best against an invoice from you.
3. why only for 8?
Well, we sell the first two items on behalf of MetalUnites, so it's basically our commission.
You will receive the remaining amount.
If you have sent more than 10 articles, it will start all over again with the next 10.
We would not only use the articles that we “retain” from you for MetalUnites to sell and cover
costs etc., but also for raffles, article packages, special promotions etc.. But only after consultation with you.
4. either after 6 or 12 months you will receive the rest of your items back in exchange for the return postage (minus 2 items as described in 3.).
We enter into a separate and individual agreement with manufacturers of unique items that are to be sold via our store.
As a band, you will receive a "BAND" access from us.
You will receive this access as long as you provide us with exclusive material.
With this access, you will also have the opportunity to contact partners on our partner sites who offer special offers for bands.
You cannot book this access, we will set it up for you as soon as we have agreed on a collaboration between the band and MetalUnites.
