Like fire and water
After going through the fire with their debut album “Through Fire”, GHOSTHER invites their ever-growing fan base to immerse themselves in their musical world with the album “Immersion”.
What could better describe the music of GHOSTHER than the interplay of the elements of fire and water? Ronnie's energetic drumming and Stelle's relentlessly pumping bass whip the 12 songs on "Immersion" forward like a rapid.
Andy's melodic riffs and Jenny's haunting vocals rage above it like a firestorm. The short, atmospheric title track in the middle of the album gives you a moment to catch your breath.
Genre boundaries between metal, core, alternative, rock and pop are playfully crossed and the most diverse styles are combined as the mood takes them. The focus is always on the song. Jenny said in an interview for a YouTube channel: “We do what we want to do and what we feel like doing. There are no pigeonholes for us.”
Once again, the wait for the band's first ballad is in vain, but that doesn't mean that "Immersion" isn't a highly emotional album. Emotion in Ghoster arises from dynamics, and feelings are conveyed through Jenny's very personal lyrics. A further tension is created by Andy's (backing) vocals, which come across as a primal force and stand in stark contrast to Jenny's singing.
This time they even brought in outside vocal reinforcement for two tracks: Björn Strid (Soilwork, The Night Flight Orchestra) can be heard on 'Doomed' and Joey Tyler (VRSTY) can be heard on 'More Of The Same'.
GHOSTHER's songwriting is never predictable; everything happens spontaneously, from the gut. In an interview with Legacy magazine, Andy describes this process like this: "We enjoy this high energy level, especially live, the most. We love the interaction between band and audience. Accordingly, we write songs more from the fan perspective than from a music theory perspective. You can jam tons of crazy scales and spectacular chord changes out of your head, but nothing rocks live like a pounding beat, straight riffs, and a catchy vocal melody."
With modern anthems like 'Doomed', 'Criminal Love' and 'A Beautiful Mind' from Immersion under their belt, GHOSTHER will hopefully soon enjoy a similar status.
