Defeated Sanity
Information:
Defeated Sanity have a long and bloody history.
Their 1996 demo “Devoured By The Black” was created by father-son duo Wolfgang Teske and Lille Gruber.
Over the next 20 years, Defeated Sanity evolved into one of the most consistently innovative bands in all of death metal. Their attitude to pure brutality is second to none. The musicianship is frantic yet precise, influenced by jazz, classical and a bloodthirsty taste for the old school. Add to the mix the red hot modern playing style of today and you get a uniquely grotesque cocktail that has metalheads from all over the world on their knees and begging for more.
After starting out on the British label Grindethic, Defeated Sanity found a new home on Willowtip. They released four acclaimed albums for the US label. “Chapters of Repugnance” was categorized by Blabbermouth as ‘exactly the kind of sewage bulldozers that BDM devotees flock to,’ and he recommended the deep tones of longtime bassist Jacob Schmidt to anyone who wants to suffer ”a lifetime of inner ear problems.” Even “Pitchfork” commented on their follow-up album “Passages Into Deformity”, claiming that Defeated Sanity had always been a head above their peers.
With the two-headed monster Disposal of the Dead / Dharmata, Defeated Sanity did something unheard of: they recorded a split with ... themselves? The first half of the album was written in their mother tongue, death metal, while the other half drifted completely towards progressive death metal through the leadership of Cynic/Death to All vocalist Max Phelps.
Hell, Defeated Sanity even made it onto the Billboard charts with their latest album, The Sanguinary Impetus, which fully embraced vocalist Josh Welshman into their blood-soaked circle. (Source: Seasons of Mist)
