Assassin was founded in Düsseldorf in 1983.
With their albums *The Upcoming Terror* (1987) and *Interstellar Experience* (1988), they quickly established themselves as a major force in the international thrash scene.
They toured with genre giants such as Testament and Death, among others.
Due to internal conflicts and the theft of their equipment, the band disbanded for the time being in 1989.
In 2002, the band reunited and played successful comeback shows (e.g., at Wacken Open Air).
This was followed by further releases such as *The Club* (2005), *Breaking the Silence* (2011), and *Combat Cathedral* (2016).
Assassin always remained true to their fast, aggressive sound, but also incorporated influences from hardcore and punk.
Despite personnel changes over the decades (especially on vocals), the band remained continuously active.
As part of the “second wave” of German thrash metal (alongside the “German Big Four” such as Kreator and Sodom), Assassin is an absolute cult band with a loyal global fan base.
